Jessica Obeid

Jessica Obeid is the Founding Partner of New Energy Consult, where she advises governments, corporates, and international institutions on strategy, technical development, policy, and investment in the energy transition across the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. With over 17 years of cross-sectoral experience in engineering, consulting, and think tanks, Jessica brings deep technical expertise and policy acumen to support clients in navigating complex energy market transformations.

A former chief energy engineer with the United Nations Development Programme and resident fellow at Chatham House in London, Jessica has shaped national energy policies and driven major clean energy developments and power sector reforms. She has worked across the value chain from greenfield project development to policy and regulatory frameworks that unlock investment in renewables, energy storage systems, green hydrogen, and data centres. Her track record includes advising on 1GW+ clean energy pipelines, power sector modelling, strategies, and IPP frameworks. Jessica also partners with governments, global investors, and developers on utility reform, market entry, and long-term energy planning across borders.

In addition to her role at New Energy Consult, Jessica is a Non-Executive Director at Iris Solar Technology and Senior Global Advisor at Azure Strategy in London. She also serves as VP and Senior Fellow at the Middle East Institute Switzerland and was formerly Non-Resident Scholar at the Middle East Institute in Switzerland.

Jessica is a globally recognised thought leader and speaker, having delivered talks in dozens of countries. Her commentary and insights on the energy transition have been featured in leading outlets including The Washington Post, Bloomberg, The Economist, and Reuters. Jessica was awarded notable international fellowships from the US State Department, UK Foreign Office, and EU Commission in recognition of her leadership. She holds a master's in political science and negotiations, and a bachelor's in electrical engineering, and maintains active affiliations within expert networks.
